Top 4 Ways I Eat Organic Affordably
It's National Organic Month! How do you eat organic without spending tons extra?
Here's how I do it! (Yes, I'm a little geeky about #4)
By now most of us are well aware that organic is healthier for your body, better for the environment, and more humane. But even knowing that, it's hard to reconcile with the extra cost.
Here are my top four ways to eat organic affordably:
1) SALE SHOP: generally when I shop at the food co-op, I look at all of their sales, which run in two week cycles. When food I like goes on sale, I buy up a lot of it to last me the next few weeks, or freeze it, or just eat so much that I'm sick of it until it goes on sale again, lol. Their sales are usually significant, and are on roughly two week cycles.
2) AVOID THE "DIRTY DOZEN" and SHOP THE CLEAN FIFTEEN: There are certain conventional fruits and veggies that have high amounts of pesticides, even if you wash them. There is other conventional produce that is fairly clean even if you don't buy organic. Familiarize yourself with these lists so that you can choose wisely about which are worth springing a little extra for the organic version for your family.
3) SHOP THRIVE MARKET: This is such a cool online store. They have healthy options that you won't find in most grocery stores or small co-ops, and it is all discounted. What's even cooler is that you can shop by diet. So if you are eating AIP, Paleo, or Vegan, use that filter and it will show you only foods that match your diet. Nice.

4) COSTCO: Don't even get me started. Us Costco lovers are like a cult. Seriously though, if you want quality Organic options at mind bogglingly affordable prices, this is the way to go. Especially organic meat and produce. They also have a variety of grain-free, vegan, and keto options so you don't have to put a second mortgage on your home just to make the heath changes you have been feeling called into
Organic produce has tons more vitamins, more antioxidants, better flavor, doesn’t kill bees and butterflies, and is not sprayed with harmful neurotoxins and endocrine disruptors. With some intentional choices, it doesn’t have to break your budget either.
